Our Unique World of Roald Dahl

Hello and welcome to our site!

      We are sixth grade students. Our names are Masha, Katya, Nastya, Gleb, Tanya and Timofey. We learn English and like to read books, play and have fun. One of the writes we read and liked is Roald Dahl. We loved his unique characters, plots and language. Though the language of his books is rather difficult, because Roald Dahl invented a lot of new words we tried our best to follow his steps and play with English words. You can find the results of our word play on the site.

      We had read  some of his works

and decided to start doing the project 'The Unique World of Roald Dahl', because whatever we learned about his life and works seems unique. Besides, we descovered Roald Dahl's unique revolting rhymes. Our film 'The Tragic Story of Three Little Pigs and the Big Grey Wolf" appeared as a result of our discovery.

     Read through the pages of the site and enjoy yourselves!

Oxford Learner’s Dictionary gives the following definition of the word unique. It’s being the only one of its kind or very special or unusual. We want to prove that Roald Dahl uses a very unusual unique way of conveying human values through his unique books and rhymes.

In order to do it we need

  • to study the biography of the writer,

  • to read some of his books to get acquainted with the plots,

  • get qcquainted with his poems,

  • find out what makes the language of his books unique,

  • try to use his pattern of playing with words.

In order to gain the objective we are going to use the following research methods:

- literature review;

- analysis of pictures, photos, videos related to the topic;

- identifying patterns of word building in English language;

- experimenting with words following the pattern used by Roald Dahl;
